Lovely Contradictions

Running a boudoir studio is a pretty personal line of business. Knowing that, I do a lot to ensure every person I photograph knows they are in the company of a friend. Whenever I bring someone new into the studio, I send them a questionnaire to help me get to know them better before our photoshoot. One of the questions I ask is, "What is your superpower?" It's always so interesting to see how differently everyone responds.

For Samantha, she revealed that her superpower is uplifting others through her positive energy. I experienced this firsthand in the studio! Samantha filled the room with such a sweet, soulful energy. Her contradicting love for lace & flowers vs. leather & fur sheds light on the opposing energies we captured in her photoshoot. While some images are dark, sensual, and moody, others give off a more playful, airy glow.

My clients always have something special to teach me. Samantha reminded me to celebrate the boundless nature of our personalities. We are not ever just one woman— we are everything all wrapped up into one beautiful body. We may spend a lifetime uncovering all of the pieces that make us who we are, but isn't that what keeps life interesting?

When asked the last time she felt beautiful, Samantha left me with this perceptive note: "Each day I feel better about myself. I feel it is because I’m finally coming into being ‘me’ and embracing my femininity."
