The Constant Strength Of A Woman
Constance shares her journey of vision, drive, and endurance in her own words this week in the diary:
"When I was growing up I wanted to be a Marine. Once I got to college I signed up and went to US Marine Corps Officer Candidate School later turning down my commission in the military to study abroad in Estonia and Russia. In grad school I was recruited for the FBI - my masters is in Russian Linguistics. Fast forward 5 years, 3 job offers accepted, 2 polygraphs, countless interviews, and physical fitness tests and it all fell through.
I have always seen myself as the strong, Wonder Woman type whose job to put as many cracks in the glass ceiling as possible. That motivated me every day.
In 2017 that vision changed when we lost the pregnancy of our son Isaac. I found renewed strength in women, like my mother, who cracked the glass ceiling with a baby on their hip.
As I transition to a full time stay at home wife, and hopefully one day stay at home mom, I find myself striving more than ever to be someone that my future daughter will be proud of. This move to Latin America is not an easy one to make.
My goal for this photoshoot is to remind myself of my elegance and grace and that strength is not only shown by carrying a gun on your hip. It’s the strength to constantly reinvent yourself as you attempt to ‘bloom where you are planted’ and it’s the strength to do it all while smiling.
As the poster in the ballet conservatory I used to go to said, “It takes a lot of work to make something look effortless”. I want my photoshoot to look just like that - effortless beauty." — Constance
