To Pause & Feel: Time VS Body
Recently, I was rummaging through old files when I came across a Vogue article written by Jameela Jamil that I saved in 2019 titled, "Come As You Are." I remember saving this gem because it spoke of the real burden that unrealistic beauty standards impose on women today.
These days, we hear people talking about body positivity everywhere. But Jameela's message wasn't another 'love yourself' mantra. It was a call to attention that women are actually losing time and productive energy to worrying about the way we look— time and precious energy spent loathing the bodies that serve us.
These are not hours men accommodate for in their daily life.
How can we afford to?
So I wrote a list for you. It's a list of ways to help you snap out of negative self-talk and tap into a more fulfilled and fired up energy that better serves your ambitions!
- Who would I be if I weren’t so busy being disappointed in myself?
- What amazing feat has my body allowed me to take on this month?
- What beauty do I value in myself that is non-physical?
- How would I help a friend who had these thoughts about themselves?
- What do I want to be known for at the summation of my life?
- BONUS: Write a list of 20-minute activities you can do when you find yourself trapped in negative self-talk.
I hope you enjoy spending all of that saved time making memories and a greater impact where it actually matters to you most!
